Password Generator: what this tool is for

Weak and reused passwords remain the single leading cause of account takeovers, corporate data breaches, and credential-stuffing attacks. Using predictable patterns (like dictionary words, family names, or simple sequential numbers) leaves accounts vulnerable to automated brute-force cracking tools within seconds.

Xorvian's Strong Password Generator produces cryptographically secure passwords directly in your web browser. Powered by your device's native `crypto.getRandomValues()` Web Crypto API, generated passwords feature true cryptographic randomness rather than pseudo-random math.

Customize password length (from 4 up to 64 characters), toggle character sets (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols), exclude confusing ambiguous characters (such as `l, 1, I, O, 0`), and generate passwords in bulk for multi-account migrations.

The built-in entropy strength meter evaluates password resilience in real-time bits of entropy with estimated brute-force cracking timelines. 100% private and client-side: generated passwords never leave your device and are never sent across the internet.

  • No file stored

Nothing is saved on our servers, during or after processing.

  • Local processing

The computation runs in your browser whenever the technology allows it.

  • Instant result

No waiting and no export queue: the result appears live.

  • Free, no account

No sign-up, no daily limit and no intrusive ads.

What this tool gives you

  • Cryptographic Entropy via Web Crypto API

Uses your operating system's native `crypto.getRandomValues()` for true cryptographic randomness and resistance against statistical prediction.

  • Real-Time Entropy Strength Meter

Evaluates password strength in mathematical bits of entropy and displays realistic brute-force crack time estimates.

  • Exclude Ambiguous Lookalike Characters

Optional toggle strips confusing characters like `l`, `1`, `I`, `O`, and `0` to prevent transcription errors when typing passwords manually.

  • Bulk Generation Capabilities

Generate up to 50 unique passwords simultaneously in a structured list for setting up new user accounts or password manager imports.

  • High-Entropy Random Keys via Native Web Crypto API

Passwords are created strictly within your local browser memory. No credentials or keys are logged, stored, or transmitted.

  • Customizable Character Sets & Length

Adjust length from 4 to 64 characters and combine uppercase, lowercase, numerical digits, and special punctuation symbols.

Real-world examples

Entropy benchmarks and estimated brute-force resistance across password configurations:

Password Length, Character Complexity, Entropy Bits & Brute-Force Cracking Time
Length & ComplexityCharacter Pool SizeTotal Entropy (Bits)Estimated Brute-Force Time
8 chars (Lowercase only)26 chars~37.6 bitsLess than 1 second (instant crack)
10 chars (Letters + Numbers)62 chars~59.5 bitsA few hours to several days
14 chars (Letters + Numbers + Symbols)94 chars~91.8 bitsMillions of years (NIST Recommended)
20 chars (Full Maximum Entropy)94 chars~131.1 bitsTrillions of years (Uncrackable)
32 chars (API / Secret Key)94 chars~209.8 bitsFar exceeds the lifespan of the universe

How to use Password Generator

  1. Select Desired Password Length

Use the slider to choose length (14 to 20 characters is recommended for primary accounts).

  2. Configure Character Sets

Toggle uppercase (A–Z), lowercase (a–z), numbers (0–9), and symbols (!@#$%...).

  3. Review Entropy & Strength Meter

Check the real-time entropy score to ensure your configuration provides over 80+ bits of entropy.

  4. Click 'Generate' & Copy

Generate a new password instantly and click the copy icon to store it in your password manager.

Tips and mistakes to avoid

Aim for at Least 14 to 16 Characters

Length is the single most important factor in cryptographic password resilience. A 16-character password with mixed characters is virtually impossible to brute-force.

Always Use a Password Manager

Generate complex, unique passwords for every online service and store them securely in a dedicated password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, etc.).

Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Combine strong passwords with two-factor authentication (authenticator apps or hardware security keys) for maximum defense.

Avoid : Reusing Passwords Across Multiple Websites

If one service suffers a credential breach, attackers automatically attempt those credentials across email, banking, and social platforms.

Avoid : Using Predictable Leetspeak Substitutions

Substitutions like `P@ssw0rd!` are thoroughly cataloged in automated hacking dictionaries and cracked in fractions of a second.

Avoid : Storing Passwords in Plain Text Notes

Never save passwords in unencrypted desktop text files, emails, or spreadsheets.
